Jin How to be a good person… That's a thick book.
The book was long. Lunch break was not.
Jin Explain it before I put this foot down!
He tossed Ara a playful challenge.
Ara Then think of something you really dislike.
She paused, then asked.
Jin When someone leaves their dirty cup on my desk!
Even the thought of it annoyed him.
Ara Could you try not doing that to someone else?
It sounded so simple that he stopped.
Jin Wait… That's the cup I left there.
A familiar cup sat on Ara's desk.
Jin I'll wash them today.
He put both feet down and picked both cups up.
Ara Same question on one foot tomorrow?
The learning was not over. But it had begun.
A thought from the Talmud Do not do to others what you would dislike yourself.
