A lesson for today

Jin thought no one would listen to his radio segment. When he separated the audience he couldn’t predict from the first line he could try today, he was able to record that one line. When something is uncertain, we can look for a small thing to try without promising how it will turn out.

About the source and this adaptation

Berakhot 10a:26–31 in the Babylonian Talmud recounts the meeting between the ailing King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah. Hezekiah says he did not have children because he foresaw how they would behave. Isaiah tells him to carry out the religious command and leave God’s purposes to God. In sections 30–31 Hezekiah refuses to give up asking for mercy. The wisdom line paraphrases the exchange in sections 28–29. The neighborhood radio test and Jin and Ara’s conversation are modern fiction created with AI assistance.
